Snow mobile

Yes, that's an igloo car. No-- we don't know why.

Don't know about you, but here at AOA we're thinking spring. Which, ya know, wasn't the only reason we were surprised to see this white Toyota pimped out to look like Mr. Snow Miser's ride.

The bricks are made of styrofoam and paint, there's an igloo door in front, the steering wheel is wrapped in fur and the roof is trimmed with icicle lights

No, we don't know the back story, but gives a whole new meaning to, "cool car."

More angles after the jump.

(Thanks, Thomas!)

The story of this car is that the owner once was lost in the Candian wilderness and luckily knew enough to build an igloo. It saved their life. Now they built their car into an igloo so that it will be as safe as that protective igloo they had.

Straight outta Burning Man.

Park that sucker in front of The Snowman in Troy and Think again!

@bk...is that b.s.?

I used to see that car all the time when I lived on Hamilton St. Before the igloo the owner had hair on the car in the form of 50 or so pool noodles sticking straight up off the roof. I used to see drunken assholes walk down the street and steal the noodles all the time. Anyway, that is one bad ass car. keep rockin.

Reminds me of CATBUS

ahh yes... but since no one beat me to it.

"does the A/C work?"

Martin just clued me in on this... I'm the owner of the Vehigloo.

It is called an "artcar". There are a bunch of them throughout the US/world. I did it just for the fun of it. It is a unique experience to drive in something like this. Sometimes you feel like a rock star, and sometimes like a freak!

I have been to Burning Man a few times.

We used to live on Hamilton and the people pulling off the noodles really did bring us down. I actually liked that version of the car better. I'm not sure we nailed the igloo -- it was difficult to execute the idea and still have it be street legal.

You can check out the original version of the car here: http://planeinsanemodels.com/artcar1.jpg

If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for mentioning the car in AOA! It is always fun to get positive feedback.

Hey, we are posting the vehigloo on craigslist. So if anyone wants a cool ride (hardy har har), you should check it out. We would really like it to go to a good, arty home.

It's a colossal social failure that starts with the breakdown of families and then circles back around to more breakdown of families. I've lived next to drop-outs, and I've seen firsthand the lack of parenting that sends the signal, passed from generation to generation. No magical teacher or administrator is going to reach down and counter that effect.
