Any way the wind blows

mohawk hudson storm dog BlueLife can throw things at you that are unexpected and terrifying -- and yet, sometimes, it can still work out. Even if you're a dog.

Back in April, Blue -- a five-month-old puppy, that's him on the right -- was pulled from the rubble left behind by a tornado that swept through northern Georgia. His owners couldn't be found after a month-long search. So Blue was scheduled to be euthanized. That's when a rescue group picked him up from the shelter there.

Blue -- and 19 other "storm dogs" from Georgia -- are now at the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society in Menands. They're looking for someone to adopt them.

Children, animals & the elderly are the only things that tug hard on my heartstrings. I'd adopt them all. But we're already beyond capacity. :-( !!!!!!!!!

My present cat is a Mohawk and Hudson Shelter cat. When I walked in he was the first cat to open his mouth and yell PLLEEEASSSE!!!

We adopted a black Lab mix from the Mohawk Hudson shelter two years ago, and she too was from Georgia. She is a wonderful dog and I wish we could bring home more.

My dog is also a rescue from the south. It's a terrible problem down there, even without the tornadoes, hurricanes and floods. I'm thrilled that more and more local organizations are trying to get these animals out of those overcrowded shelters before they can be euthanized.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

Talk about a business that's really exploded recently. I clicked on 30 or so of these, and only found a couple that have been around for longer than the past ten years! Here's hoping the next ten years are just as good for this business.
