Nano Rensselaer?
Alain Kaloyeros says SUNY Poly is looking at creating "an innovation and commercialization hub" at the De Laet's Landing site on the Rensselaer waterfront. Kaloyeros says the decision to focus on Rensselaer was at the urging of Andrew Cuomo. [Biz Review] [TU]

Stuff to do this weekend
The Kooks are the music headliners for this weekend's Tulip Festival.
The tulips are in bloom, the bands are ready to play. and all around Washington Park the scent of funnel cake and fried Oreos pervades the air.
After the jump, a list of stuff to do this weekend from tulips and chalk drawings to music and drive-in movies.
Doing something you don't see on our list? Drop it in the comment section for everyone to see.
And whatever you're up to, have a fantastic weekend.
Logged in and behind the wheel
In light of all the recent local talk about getting Uber and Lyft to start operating in the Capital Region, here's an interesting first-person look at the experience of being an UberX driver in Philadelphia. City Paper's Emily Guendelsberger signed up as a driver for the service, drove more than 100 rides, compiled the numbers from those rides (including how much she made), and talked with other drivers. Tulips, before the bloom and after
We're right in the heart of tulip season, so we thought it'd be fun to put together some "sliding before and after" photos of the Washington Park tulips.
The pre-bloom photos are from April 27 -- so, almost two weeks ago -- when almost none of the tulips were in bloom. The post-bloom photos are from this morning.
Happy Tulip Fest.
Four paw drive
My new cart upgrades help me run faster and grow stronger everyday! Please share, I'm doing my best, but I need your help to get more exposure. Thanks again for the kind words, encouragement and support, I couldn't do it without you!

Because dogs: This is Theo, a pitbull in Glenville who needs a home.
Oh, and Theo comes with a custom-designed four wheeled cart that helps him get around because of a brain deformity that affects his balance.
Kelly de la Rocha has the backstory on Theo over at the Daily Gazette.
A quick recap of the week
Here are a few highlights from the past week on AOA:
+ A few pics from the first Fork in the Road food truck event.
+ It's so awkward when you complain about the feds listening to calls when they're actually listening to your call.
+ This study about how poverty and where kids live gave us a lot to think about here in the Capital Region.
+ Deanna tried the falafel and shawarma at Saati Deli in Latham.
+ That time Nellie Bly came to Albany to buy some legsilators.
+ We gave away tickets to see Mamma Mia! at Proctors + an Aperitivo Bistro gift certificate by asking: What's something you'd like to see make a comeback in the Capital Region?
+ What was up in the Neighborhood this week: the creative process, the Church of the Holy Innocents, an architecture stroll, paying attention to pay, spring, Fork in the Road, CIA, 15 Church, burgers, bacon, the ill-fated Ville du Havre, and suckas.
+ A post about trains prompted a discussion about the possility of light rail in the Capital Region.
+ What it was like to reign as one of the early Tulip Queens. (Spoiler: It was a much bigger deal then.)
+ Dan asked about finding a good heating/cooling contractor for a home project.
+ And because it's Tulip Fest weekend, some "sliding" before and after -- pre-bloom and post-bloom -- photos of the Washington Park tulips.
Thanks to everyone who posted a comment or shared an idea or photo this week!
