Springtime comes to Albany -- inside

Yes, those are little people in the flowers.

Yes, we know it's snowing. Yes, we know it's cold. But put that aside for a moment. If you want to forget that we have the rest of February and all of March left to face, you might want to check out New York in Bloom at The New York State Museum.

A normally free museum visit will cost $4 on Friday and $6 on Saturday and Sunday (kids under 12 are still free) but you get to pretend it's not snowy and cold and look at some really pretty flowers. There are more than 100 displays set up all around the museum and regional florists and interior designers teamed up to create a dozen themed table settings that Martha Stewart would envy.

Admission gets you in to all the lectures, workshops and activities (there are lot) from photographing flowers to cake decorating to face painting (it makes everything more fun). No, it's not going to totally blow you away, but it's a nice way to keep warm for a couple of hours and it might be enough to get you through the next four weeks of winter.

The Scoop

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
