Dunkin' Pizza comes to Albany

Dunkin' Donuts pizza

Funny how it looked so much better in the menu board picture

Remember last week when we posted about New York being one of the first markets to get Dunkin' Donuts Pizza? Well, it has arrived. We found it at the D.D. on Madison Avenue in Albany (the one in the little fast food mall in front of Price Chopper). So, we took one for the team yesterday and tried it.

Dunkin' Pizza in a boxIt's a frozen pizza. That's it. No better, no worse. Just a little frozen pizza warmed up in a toaster oven and served in a cardboard box. The crust is kind of bland like a frozen pizza, doughy on the bottom like a frozen pizza, and dry around the edges, you guessed it... like a frozen pizza. Now with all the pizza options we have in the capital region, why one would opt for a Dunkin' Pizza is kind of a mystery to us, but the staff told us they've sold a bunch of them already. Hey, if Rachael Ray can sell an $18 garbage bowl, then she sure as hell can sell a frozen pizza. All we can say is you're on your own with the flatbread sammy.

The Bottom Line

The worst pizza ever? No. But you can do so much better. Stick with the coffee.

Comments

I'll add this to the list of reasons Rachel Ray gives me hives.

Was this one of the new menu items created because Ms. Ray "encouraged" them to created healthier alternatives to donuts? This certainly doesn't look like a such an option. And really, how many people are going to go to a place with the word "Donuts" in its name to order a healthy meal?

It's unclear whether RR was involved in this. Maybe when they add Dunkin' Stoup to the menu, we'll know for sure that she's having an influence on the menu.

Good point. Hmm... I wonder if it's possible to create a healthy donut?

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
