Oh, so that's how it works
Last week the New York Times noticed that the powerful hospital workers union (that would be 1199 S.E.I.U. United Healthcare Workers East) was dumping money into the Working Families Party, which was in turn trying to get the Democrat elected in the State Senate special election. So, what? Well, this union has a been big supporter of Joe Bruno and the Senate Republicans. So NYT called up Bruno and essentially asked, "What, are you and the union not BFF anymore?" Well, somebody must have complained about being two-timed because on Monday the union sent Bruno and the Republicans the kind of "I'm sorry" bouquet that only interest groups can: $100,000. Just a little peek into how your government actually works.
