Stuff to do this weekend

The last few days have been so nice that we're all looking forward to getting outdoors on the weekend. It should be beautiful, right? No... thank you for playing, but it looks like Mother Nature is doling out more crappy weather this weekend. Here are a few things you can do to ward off the gloom.

It's 1st Friday in Albany. Bring an umbrella for traveling between venues.

If you missed Atonement in the theaters and don't want to wait for the DVD you can catch it tonight at 8 and Sunday afternoon at 3 at the Saratoga Film Forum.

If you're going to see Moe at The Palace and are looking for a good "after party" you might try Valentine's. Wreckloose, Lynch, The Loughlin Brothers and Rasinhead will be there.

And of course the MAAC tournament is at the Times Union Center all weekend long if you want to catch a game. Go Saints!

There's also the under-publicized (no Metroland mention?) midnight showing of the 1922 German expressionist classic horror silent NOSFERATU at the Madison Theater. --Which screening, I miught add, features a live soundtrack provided by DJ Burn (AKA Mike) with special guest Ben Ropp on keyboard. See http://www.myspace.com/mike1362 for the flyer.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
