Stuff to do this weekend
Rain makes the flowers beautiful--so it couldn't hurt us any, could it? Here are a few things you might want to check out this weekend. Just keep your umbrella close.
It's 1st Friday! Your chance to check out the goings on in downtown Albany.
MTV will be promoting capital region native Kevin Allen Jackson's documentary, "The Legacy" at film festivals around the country, but on Friday and Saturday at midnight The Madison Theater will host a sneak peak and talk with the filmmaker. "The Legacy" is a look at hope, joy and the pursuit of excellence. It follows nine young musicians as they tour the western hemisphere with the Youth Orchestra of the Americas and back to their hometowns. A $5 donation is suggested.
If there's chocolate, it can't be bad. The Northeast Family Chocolate Festival takes place Saturday at the Washington Avenue Armory. With games and entertainment, it's a great place to bring the kids, but you'll have to monitor their sugar intake. And your own. Admission is $8 adults, $5 kids. Proceeds benefit the Addiction Care Center of Albany.
Saratoga's art galleries will be open late for First Saturday Arts Night. If you look around, you're sure to find some public receptions, performances, and other fun stuff.
We're not really sure what this one is, but it sounds weird and kind of cool. LEMUR: League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots is at Proctor's on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn-based group of artists and Technologists create robots that are new types of musical instruments. They don't play existing instruments, they're new musical instruments that play themselves.
Those are just a few things we found. What are you doing this weekend?
