New York State is apparently sitting on about $8 billion in unclaimed money -- and some of it might belong to you. The comptroller's office has a site set up where you find out if there's any money with your name on it. We actually know someone who snagged about $50 this way.

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

I've been seeing the Unclaimed Funds kiosks at fairs (NY State in Syracuse and Erie County in Buffalo, among others) for many years now. It's frustrating because I see the booth and get all excited that there's money out there for me and am perenially disappointed that there is no money I haven't claimed. Bummer.
