Stacy's Mom at Ambition Cafe

stacys mom at ambition cafe

Alas, you can't get Stacy's Mom with Mexican Wine. (What?)

Let it be known: we have had Stacy's Mom. And Stacy's Mom has got it goin' on.

So there we were, tucked into a booth at Ambition Cafe in Schenectady, scanning the lunch menu. It's all the usual stuff until we get about half-way down the page: Stacy's Mom -- turkey, fontina, garlic mayo, lettuce and tomato, all on warmed, herb foccacia.

Yes, we'll have that, please.

And we're happy we did. If you think about sandwiches like pop songs (we'll try not to stretch too far), Stacy's Mom is one of those uncomplicated, hooky sort of things, the idea behind which seems so simple that you'd think everyone could make them. But more often than not, they just end up being kind of forgettable. We've still got Stacy's Mom in our heads, though.

Was it the best sandwich we've ever heard eaten? No. But we're looking forward to spinning it again.

The Bottom Line

Stacy's Mom sings. And Ambition Cafe itself is kind of fun. Check it out for lunch in Schenectady.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
