What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: the ironic pig out, mystery ice cream flavors, yogurt disappointment, a guide to drinking in Saratoga.

Last weekend's Troy Pig Out prompted a bit of oinking online. On Table Hopping, a reader reported "nickle-sized" samples and one of Steve's colleague's called the Pig Out "profoundly stupid." That didn't go over well with Troy officials. Both Harry Tutunjian and the event's organizer posted responses. Sample problems aside, Albany Jane says the food was actually pretty good.

Moxie's mystery flavor this year was Sweet Potato -- and Renée guessed it correctly!

Alex, of he's-the-guy-with-Cati fame, reports some disappointing news -- for yogurt and New York State. Fage, the Greek yogurt (in terms of both style and where it's made), is now being made in Johnstown, NY, which sounds great and all except that the NY stuff isn't as a good as the made-in-Greece stuff. Alex has the pictures -- and experienced yogurt palate -- to prove it.

And "Horatio" at iSaratoga has the scoop on the Saratoga bar scene. His Crankiness almost sounded, dare we say, happy talking about all those watering holes.

There's a lot more going on around the Neighborhood, check it out. If you know of a great blog or site we should include, post a comment or send us an email: editors |at| alloveralbany |dot| com.

I love being part of your neighborhood. Thanks for including me!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
