Really big

The movie theater at Crossgates is getting an IMAX screen -- it could be ready as early as Thanksgiving.

Am I the only one who just said: yes finally!

No, Brian. Albany's finally making it to the 20th century!

Yeah, cause that's what we need.. ANOTHER theater!

IMAX theatres aren't just another theatre. And besides, what we need is another theatre *operator* to compete with Regal.

Awesome. I can't wait to fax my friends about this. Or, better yet, I'll call them on my fancy cordless telephone. I hope I don't kick them off AOL when I call them. Those modems can be so finicky.

Um Alsace, We do have other theaters don't ya know?! How about the Madison and Spectrum? They are independent, non-Regal theaters.

I believe that an IMAX theater was originally going to be built next to the Palace Theater in downtown Albany?

Ellie, I'm aware of those other theatres (and have been there many times), but I'm out in the 'burbs so the Regal theatres are much more accessible and waaaay nicer. What they lack in charm they make up for in digital projection and stadium seating.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
