Albany County -- and comptroller Mike Conners -- were a big part of a story today on Morning Edition about the how the credit crunch is affecting municipal bonds. Ooh, spring me right out of bed exciting, right? Well, the situation does have real consequences. Conners tells NPR that because of the crunch Albany County will probably be paying $2 million more in debt service on bonds it needs fix roads in the hill towns. And Menands -- that might mean no new sewer for you!
