Round 1: Schenectady

round 1 schenectady

The Schenectady bracket.

Round 1 of The Tournament of Pizza moves on to Schenectady. The matchups: Scotti's vs. Home Style and Fireside vs. Pizza King. Who will win the battle of upper Union? And can the Pizza King live up to its name?

Let's go to the action.

Scotti's 1
Home Style 2
Post game: Home Style beats out its neighbor from the down block on the strength of its "nice sauce." Scotti's stumbled with at least one judge for being "too dry" -- another judge described the Scotti's crust as "really chewy."

Fireside 0
Pizza King 3
Post game: A resounding win for the Pizza King, whose crust won universal acclaim from the judges. Though one judge wrote of the King "sauce is meh." Wrote one judge of Fireside, "Tastes like the burning oven."

So, the Pizza King heads into Round 2 with a strong victory. Will Home Style be up to the challenge?

Tomorrow in The Tournament of Pizza: Troy.

Previous Round 1 results: Saratoga.

The Scoop
