Get your media geek on

The Women's Press Club of New York State is worried about your inner media geek. Well, not really worried so much as concerned that it's not getting enough love and attention. And the press club has just the fix.

The group is hosting a panel discussion Thursday evening about some of the issues raised by blogging, self-made media stars and entrepreneurial journalism. And the panel is really good. Check it out:
Rachel Sklar
+ Rachel Sklar, until just recently editor of Huffington Post's Eat The Press blog, and currently a self-described "media addict on the loose." (That's her on the right.)

+ Robin Sloan, web strategist for Current TV (if you haven't watched Current, you gotta check it out).

+ Rosemary Armao, an assistant professor in UAlbany's journalism department

+ Mary Alice Molgard, communications professor at St. Rose

Greg from AOA will be moderating. And Mary will be there, too. So please say hi if you stop by.

We promise to be finished early enough so you can watch 30 Rock in realtime.

Reception (with dessert!) starts at 6:30 in the Touhey Forum in CSR's Lally School of Ed Building. The media navel gazing starts at 7. It's $5.

wow, looks really cool -- and so close to home too. Unfortunately, obligations have me tied up at a different event. boo hoo for this media geek.

Wish I could make it. Sounds like it would be an interesting evening.

Wow... same here. I'd love to go to this but I have another engagement. :-(

I'd love to get my geek on, but I too have another engagement. PLEASE hold something similar in the future--the Women's Press Club rocks!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
