Marv Cermak needs a blog

Marv CermakWe always get a little kick out of reading Marv Cermak's weekly TU column about things he's noticed in and around Schenectady. He's kind of nutty and cranky -- you know, in the good way (hey, at least we didn't call him "grizzled" like the Washington Post did).

A few examples from his column today:

+ Sandy Treadwell is "as exciting as watching paint dry."

+ Kirsten Gillibrand won the first time because "John Sweeney shot off all his toes."

+ He calls out a Schenectady County legislator for "bamboozling" voters.

+ And who got his vote for president this year? Bill Cosby and Mike Ditka (VP) as write-ins.

We think Marv needs a blog.

Don't hold your breath on a blog for good ole' Cermak. The TU doesn't even publish a e-mail for the old crank.

His factual errors are now just par for the course. Several months ago he bragged in his column of watching the Secretariat run in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga in 1973 after the horse won the Triple Crown. Cermak must have been smoking some good stuff in '73 because Secretariat never ran the Travers Stakes. He did run at Saratoga a month earlier in the Whitney Stakes, but not the Travers.

I pointed this out to the Times Union and suggested he put in a correction in a future column, but no correction ever printed.

It took a while, AOA, but Marv has a blog:

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
