TightKnit

By Jessica Pasko

tightknit logoIf you're looking to kick start your holiday shopping sans malls, be sure to check out this weekend's TightKnit event.

Basically, it's a sort of indie craft sale showcasing all sorts of mediums, including zines, jewelry, housewares and plenty of other good stuff. Except it's not just a craft sale, according to local artists and zinesters Zhenelle Falk and Rachel Wrightson Naylor, who hatched the idea for TightKnit. It's also about creating a community of local DIY-ers from the Capital Region, the Hudson Valley, southern Vermont and the Berkshires.

The group will hold its first events this weekend, with hopes of turning it into a biannual thing. The 45 vendors involved this time 'round include the cartooning of Jess Fink, "period kits" and vegan-friendly accessories from Holistically Heather and nature inspired fashions from Jessyka.

You can check out the goods this Friday at Troy Night Out and again on Saturday during the Troy Winter Farmers Market. On both days, they'll set up shop in the Frear Building on the corner of Third and Fulton streets.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

Don't give up. Our paperwork was denied, and we contested their findings. We took detailed photos of the properties the city used as comps explaining why they were worth more than our house, and found truly relevant comps. Eventually a mediator (judge?) sat in a small conference room with us and we won. See? you can fight City Hall.
