CDFI RIP

According to a post on its blog, the Capital District Federation of Ideas will soon pass on (it lost its space on Madison Ave in Albany in August). It's too bad -- CDFI always seemed to have something interesting or weird going on.

This makes me so sad, I actually just got done reading the farewell e-mail from Tom right before I read this. CDFI was such a cool and noble idea at its core, but all its in your face queer community activism and craft workshops were ultimately undone by a lack of volunteers, donations and everyones desire to turn it into just another "lets get drunk and f***" venue like every other one from Lark and Jay all the way to the Elbo Room, except with freakier outfits and no cover. The heydays of CDFI will be sorely missed.

I found out about CDFI about a year ago and unfortunately never had a chance to get involved before its demise. I know little about the group but I'm sad to see it go.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
