What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: bus fares, Ayn Rand, airport betting, chili pepper lights, missed connections and sandwiches.

TQL is helping to organize a coalition against the CDTA fare increase.

Steve stumbled up an Ayn Rand-inspired manifesto on a local restaurant site.

Fun in Saratoga asks: "If you can bet at the Vegas airport why not Albany's?"

Naomi's giving away a bunch of holiday stuff -- but the chili pepper lights are staying with her.

Kristi highlighted some lowlights on Missed Connections.

And Celina has added a new sandwich to her list of favorite Albany sandwiches.

> Celina has added a new sandwich...

A fougasse is not a sandwich, sacrebleu! :)

I love the bread sold at Townsend Bakery, and it's nice to see a new restaurant in the neighborhood, but getting an actual pizza has proven to be pretty difficult. If you want customers to return, it might be a good idea to stick to your schedule. They close at 9PM; I tried to get dinner last night a little before 8:15, and they told us they had to close. That's the second time, ugh. I'm all for helping local businesses, I like to eat out, but throw me a bone here. Or a pizza.
Anyway, I'll keep trying.

I've been hearing similar problems... I keep waiting it out to finally hit it up... Hope they get their act together!

S: Nobody said a fougasse was a sandwich! Try reading a bit more carefully before you decided to 'educate' us all. She may have said her kids enjoyed the fougasse, but the sandwich Celina added to her list of favorites is "The Ten Eyck, with braised pork, pear slices, provolone cheese and tarragon mayonnaise." Sacrebleu!

@B: what? you want me to *read* all that? In English? I'm already having a tough time understanding the English pictures!

Who is this "B". Certainly an impostor. I would never type "Sacrebleu!" There would definitely be a "ta mere" in there somewhere, especially when talking about sandwiches.

A B imposter - how crude.

I would emulate S way before B. Maybe I'll start....

un chien.

eh. that's all I learned from French class. Let's hear it for America's schooling!

@-B: ha, I should have known, he/she did put the word educate in-between single-quotes, after all. Learning is so overrated nowadays...

Une pipe.

I like impersonating S as well.

The great thing is, as Lola mentions, Americans don't know any French so while this is complete gibberish, it doesn't matter.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
