Stuff to do this weekend

Katie Haverly. Yes, you want to hear her sing.

Well, personally we're all about blankets, the couch and the DVR by now. But if you've got any celebration left in you, here's what we've dug up for the weekend. Have fun, and as always, let us know what else you're up to.

1st Friday
Put on your long johns and wander the first 1st Friday of the year. Stores and art galleries in Albany are open late tonight with art, music, food and other fun stuff. Among them: the Upstate Artists Guild will be holding an open for a handful of local presses that publish poetry.

Katie Haverly at Lark Tavern
After 1st Friday, head over to The Lark Tavern for what promises to be an awesome show. Katie Haverly and Vox Celest with Knotworking and Ashley Pond. Things get going at 9:30.

Catch a movie
Local theaters are filled with potential Oscar contenders. Also, they're warm and have popcorn. We're just sayin'.

If your resolution is to save a couple of bucks, Proctor's is showing Bill Maher's Religulous for $3 or you could catch Happy-Go-Lucky at the Saratoga Film Forum for $6.

Art
If you've been meaning to catch the American impressionist exhibit at the Albany Institute of History and Art, this is your last chance. It closes on Sunday. We finally got to check it out this week and it's worth seeing.

Break a resolution
You can start shedding holiday pounds on Monday. This weekend, try something yummy.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
