Local RPM finishers

ethan waldman coverThis year's RPM Challenge ended this past weekend. A bunch of local musicians started this year's make-an-album-in-one-month challenge.

Here are some of the local projects that met challenge...

Scientific Maps
The Maps' Aaron Smith put together an 30 minute album that follows the story of "a not very likable fellow named 'yarrow paisley' and it contains his imprisonment, hateful haunting, and lucky escape, among many other things." It's fun. And it's available for download.

Matthew Ferguson
Of his album, called Colors I Have Heard, Matthew says: "This record is intended to be listened to in a quiet setting, in an altered state, and preferably with headphones." It's also available for download.

00shoe Troupe
This project, which includes Rev Records founder Harith Abdhullah, put together an album called Good Day Monster. The RR site says the group explores "every corner of the musical universe, from ambient shoegaze to folk to pop" on the album. A few songs from the album are up for streaming at the group's Facebook page.

Ethan Waldman
We really like the simple cover art for this acoustic album (up on the right). It's streamable at his site.

Hannah Imbesi
We dig the voice of this lady from Schenectady. She has songs posted on her MySpace page, but we can't tell if they're from her RPM album. She's playing at the Schenectady Greenmarket this Sunday with Ethan Waldman (above).

Other projects marked as finished: Joel Bouchard, _11:34, and Brain Smear.

Also: We are Jeneric? Yep, it looks like Jen and Eric decided to go for it again this month. Their In the Parlor with The Moon was produced during last year's RPM Challenge.

We probably missed a bunch of local projects. Know of others? Post in the comments, SVP.

I wish Jefferson James had gotten on that bandwagon (no pun intended):

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
