Craig and his wonderful list

cinnamon shakerThe good thing about Craigslist: it's a window into our fellow community members' wants, needs and aspirations. The bad thing about Craigslist: it's a window into our fellow community members' wants, needs and aspirations.

Good or bad, we'll let you decide...

Why kennel your dog when you could send him to the Taj-Mahowl?

Do custom-made dog diapers come with a tail hole? Yes, they do.

So this person's friend, who's "an idiot," got a dog.

Sadly, Haidong Gumdo is not some sort of spicy soup.

"You are a malevolent force wrapped in puppy carcasses." So we're guessing that didn't go very well.

This guy wants to date you. So he can bring you home to his wife.

If you're a vegan with a "crushing despair of not being able to do anything to make the world a better place," then this guy could be a new friend.

Him: adorable mustache. Her: orders discombobulating soy lattes.

You know, he may have told every pretty lady along the parade route that.

They met at the co-op's spice rack, but not even the DEC could bring them together.

Home Depot ladies -- not cute. Got it.

Alpacas are apparently cheaper by the bundle.

Random sale on black swans. Someone tell Nicholas Nassim Taleb.

The problem: too many roosters. One of the apparent solutions: coq au vin.

Comments

Random fact for the day: When you buy male alpacas, apparently it's best to buy in bulk. In particular, three. I was at the Zoo not too long ago and an employee told me that if you get just one, they get lonely and depressed, but two will fight. So you have to have at least three, so that two can be buddies at any given time and gang up on the third.

Either Zoo Guy was telling me the truth, or it was the worst pick-up line EVER.

From the post "Cinnamon Girl":
"You purchased cinnamon and commented "nothing like the smell of fresh spices." I had a goatee and purchased some ginger. You gave me that "ask me" look, but girl, it was impossible for me to do so then."

This needs to be spoken at the beginning of an R&B love song.

Kevin, strange that you say that because when I first saw it, I was mentally reading that to the tune of Debra by Beck.

RE: Taj Mahowl Something about the term "fur person" just doesn't sit right with me...

I want that Labradoodle!!!!

MissCeeBee, in that case, do not under any circumstances look up the definition of yiffing.

I am the proud of owner of the Tajmahowl and a dog trainer. I call our pups "fur persons" because all the dogs in my life have thought they were just persons in a fur coat. Strange as it may sound to those who don't have a beloved canine in their life, it is NOT WEIRD to us dog people. Before I started the Tajmahowl, I read a wonderful novel about an eccentric lady who took in pups and called them "fur persons." I thought... what a wonderful description of our canines... who to many of my clients... are more like people than dogs. If that offends Craigslist, then WOOF-WOOF!!! I will not make the same mistake and post my unique and loving services on their site. If you would like a flier for the Taj, email me at Tajmahowl@yahoo.com. and I will send you one.

Just wondering... are you a cat person??

@Terri
I am an animal nut. And really, I'm not trying to start any sort of philosophical discussion. But, I don't consider my dog or cat to be a person in a fur suit. IE- if the house was on fire and I only had a split second to act, I wouldn't have a crisis of conscience trying to figure out if I should save my dog, or my toddler. I think it's a disservice to humans and animals when we cast our pets in human roles.

While I do not call my dog a fur person, I love that the person who maybe watching them does. When I go away I want someone that will take care of my animals as I would. Anyone who calls a dog a fur person sounds nutty...perfectly nutty to watch my beloved dogs.

I'm a customer of the Tajmahowl , and I am very pleased. She takes
exceptional care of my dog. She even bakes them special doggy treats when they stay there. My dog is treated as one of her family. My dog gets free roaming of her house, and spacious back yard, which beats a kennel by a long shot. Her prices are fair also. Terri
is an AWESOME dog lover, and I wouldn't take my "fur person" anywhere else...:-)

The Taj -

The Tagmahowl is a wonderful place to stay and play.
I wish I could be there everyday
When my owner is away
This is my getaway

Terri can be my tuerguide
She's the best in my eye (I lost one)
When I'm there I love my treats
Can't wait to go back
and get something more to eat

woof!

I wish I knew who "dogmeat" was. What a great poem. Thank you!!
Thank you Mark P.!!

I am an animal person and proud of it. I own 3 rescue cats and a beautiful dog/horse that was almost shot in TX (125 pound white ana/pry mix) I also have three amazing sons that I call my masterpieces so it isn't like these fur people filled a void or anything like (I am an artist and my children are bar non the best of the best masterpieces) Call it excentric or freaky or wonderful~~~~ it is what it is~~~~. I have known Terri for a little awhile from our church. I went to her wedding and at her wedding her beautiful Lab Irene was there. I thought this was so cool and even cooler when I found out she was involved in the past with raising seeing eye dogs for the blind. During a parish auction I won (or rather Yafah) won a two day stay at the Tajmahowl. I was looking for someone/something at the time. Yafah had a couple of pretty bad experiences at kennels so I opted to hire pet sitters that didn't want to walk her... (she needs her walks!) With Terri I felt her calm and warm demeaner and her husband Rick too and my instints were on target. Fast forwarding, Yafah had a blast for the two day/ two night stay and I feel llike Terri is a God sent, truly!! Yafah is only 3 years old but I have had such a torturous time fiinding places or having people come when I must go away. Thanks to Terri she had given me much peace and I am so releved and as for Yafah--well-- she loves her new den and new friends~> people with fur and without fur!

One of our clients -- AKA fur persons -- died yesterday in his sleep. May Dusty rest in peace. He was a delightful, 14-yr. old poodle. We will all miss him.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a dog/horse?

Maddie, President Obama's lifting of restrictions on stem cell research has led to the inevitable morally grey areas of cloning and animal hybridization. Doghorses are only the beginning and as cute and convenient as a dog you can ride might be, you should fear the iguanawhale, grizzlybee, bunnyhippo, and catfish. What? We already have catfish? I'm afraid the end is extremely f---king nigh.

@maddie: that is a doghorse.

Horned Fishbird, Rhinurtledillo, Squatnail, Tideerephant and other fine and very real animals can be found, as usual, on Worth1000.com.

I suppose I can't forget the horsefly or the dragonfly either.

Years from now, Internet historians will point to Mar 19, 2009 at 3:56 PM as the moment when AoA jumped the shark-boy.

These mutants are starting to scare me!! And all because we couldn't get Tajmahowl on Craiglist last week.

PS I did watch Pat's dog/horse and Yafah is a huge, white, gentle, smart, dog - who looks like a polar bear. I can't wait for her to come back Easter weekend. She will have her own Easter Basket, complete with organic, homemade dog treats.
Want to know more about our Howl-day celebrations for our fur persons.... Tajmahowl@yahoo.com

Hi. It is the owner of the dog/horse Yafah. I loved the discussion on this. Yafah is a large--not fat--just massive white dog that people have always said, "WOW she is as big as a house." so I call her my dog hourse She fits into the back of my mini cooper. It is funny. She take up the whole back but we have had a few teenagers fit inside too.. she is on my website if you want to look btw. Just wanted to tell you that not only did Yafah chow down her organic treats and she made really good friends. She really is bright and our bond is tight and so when I was walking with my polor bear friend mostly in silence I asked her, "did you meet Duke?" (another dog) Irene? (Terri's dog) "You like Terri?" She started to look around. I sware she smiled and Yafah's ears went to the sky with happiness. As well, after Yafah was brought home (I was still on route with flight delays so my sons picked her up) I saw an Easter basket filled with chocolate covered strawberries and cookies that were made with TLC for us non fur people! Terri is warm to whatever/whomever breed person you may be. :-) If you ever have a need for a wonderful place to have your fur friend go please consider Tajmahowl. Yafah will be going back very soon for a long stay. I feel very confident. It is the first time since I have had Yafah that I feel this trust.
