Smoke

NYT gives the "Kirsten Gillibrand was a tobacco lawyer" story the full treatment today. The short story: KG was probably much more involved with Philip Morris than she's let on -- and she was very good at her job.

I thought there was an ad showing the clandestine German research facilities where Gillibrand smoked all her big tobacco products under the watchful eye eugenicists, but I couldn't find it. Here's a good runner up though

So much production values used in this video, yet so disgusting. Threw up in my mouth a little.

Lets see: “Senator Gillibrand worked for the clients that were assigned to her.” Is this Senator Corning or Sgt Schultz? "I know nothing.... just taking orders.. " I've said it before and I will say it again. We need representatives with backbones and with values. She is by trade a lawyer and everyone knows lawyer slim out of every situation, good, bad and ugly.

OMG OMG

The website mentioned in the ad.

Why is this such a big deal now? This came up during the campaign and she still won. She's talked about it and doesn't feel like it is a necessary discussion which is fine. We should be focusing on what she is doing now and working on now. She has the Senate seat...such is life. Living in the past does not do anyone any good. Those who fail to study the past are destined to repeat it but those that dwell on the past are going to miss the present.

As long as Gillibrand doesn't go around prosecuting prostitution rings while schtupping prostitutes I don't care. Oh wait, wrong politician. All I ask of my politicians is to stick to their campaign promises and get their jobs done. I'm not voting for moral leadership I'm looking for as-ethical-as-politics-can-get leadership.

Now that I've said that does anyone know her voting record on issues related to tobacco regulation? Because I totally hate smoking.
