My Exit: Lynn Christiano

Lynn Christiano, tonight's My Exit DJ.

Every Monday night our friends at WEXT do this thing called My Exit -- local listeners get to come into the station and program an hour of music. So we thought it'd be fun to find out a little bit about these people and why they picked the songs on their playlist. Here's tonight's person:

Who:
Lynn Christiano, antiques dealer from Amsterdam, NY.

Musical Taste:
I like music that makes me feel good. There's so much in the world that is depressing. I like music that makes me want to dance. I like music that evokes an era. I'm a product of my parents who loved swing, but I grew up in the age of Rock. I like it all.

Five songs from Lynn's show:

BBC Big Band Orchestra -- "Swing, swing, swing"
This is the classic swing tune. It doesn't get any better than this. You can't help but move to it. And you can just imagine all of these people at a USO just dancing their hearts out.

Belleruche -- "Minor Swing"
This is a newer song but it mixes today's music with the big band flavor. Again it makes you want to dance.

Aretha Franklin -- "Chain of Fools"
I grew up during the 60's and have memories of listening to this song on a pocket transistor radio, but what it really makes me think of is that movie "Michael," with John Travolta. There's this scene where he's dancing to that song in a bar with a group of women that just makes me smile.

Jethro Tull -- "Bouree"
This song brings back a whole other era. Jethro Tull helped form my taste in music during my high school & college years. There's a lot of flute and their songs draw you in like a pied piper or something.

Morphine -- "Buena"
My sons introduced me to the music of Morphine. Buena has a dark beat and a jazzy feel that I just love.

You can hear Lynn's My Exit show tonight at 8 at 97.7 or at ext977.org. Here's how to schedule your own My Exit show on WEXT

OMG! Lynn I know your son, who is a fabulous artist. Looks like good taste runs in the family. I am so looking forward to hearing your show!

Pocket transistor radios! I remember thinking that I was the coolest kid in school for having a little 9V AM set with earplug, then forward to the 80s and I'm working at Radio Shack selling AM / FM pocket radios for six bucks. Except that I only ever sold one of them, and that was a mail order to an inmate at a New York Correctional Facility.

Hey Lynn - Enjoyed your MY EXIT show !!! Happy Birthday April 1 - No Fooling !!! Your Friend, Kathy
