There won't be any free Monday night concerts in Washington Park this summer -- the Lark Street BID, which sponsored the series, says it can't afford it this year.

What's frustrating is that they did not say exactly how large the deficit was. Are we talking $50,000 short of sponsorships? $5,000?

A simple solution: Boom box, obscure indie music and a box of wine. Who needs a government grant when box of wine is so cheap?
