The United Way is launching the 211 phone service in the Capital Region today. The three digit phone number is intended to connect people with services related to child care, employment and crisis counseling.
The local 211 service is part of a national campaign to roll out the service. According to the site for the national campaign, 78 percent of the US had 211 access in March.
