He's the famous Fountain Day guy

fountain day pic smallAfter the TU's (in)famous 2004 Fountain Day photo resurfaced last week, we were kind of curious to find out what's become of the two people in the pic.

Well, we're still keeping an eye out for the mysterious Tatiana Shvachus -- but we found Eric Fisher. He's now a TV meteorologist in Springfield, Massachusetts.

We emailed him a few questions about his memories of that day -- and that picture.

So, you're *the* Eric Fisher?

You got me! It seems clear now that this picture will haunt me forever haha. Probably shouldn't have picked such a public profession, but the picture looks much worse than it is.

What did you think when you first saw that picture?

I first saw it online at the paper's website, and said "oh man that looks ridiculous."

But the next morning when I went to work at an office work study they all had copies of the print newspaper. Yikes. A little embarrassing to be sure. Was very surprised that I made all the news that night.

How do you remember that day?

Tatiana was in my theater class, and the whole class had gone out to the fountain once it was over (the festivities were just starting). We jumped in (if I recall correctly, it was an absolutely beautiful day)...and they're blaring music so everyone was dancing.

The photographer happened to capture a moment that looked terrible but was really just a couple of friends dancing in the pool, nothing unusual for fountain day. I have to admit we all had a pretty good laugh about it though (I'm not exactly a party animal and wasn't known for making trouble... I hadn't even had anything to drink at that time) so it was hilarious that a picture of me of all people stirred up controversy.

Once the fountain fun was over, I went back to my room and we had a BBQ for the afternoon, played some baseball, no furniture burning or car flipping.

What are you up to these days? From your resume it looks like you're a meteorologist in Springfield now.

Yes, I'm a meteorologist and reporter now in Springfield at WGGB. Been here ever since graduation, and I do the news Monday-Friday mornings.

And I'm still boring. I work the morning show so I wake up at 2:45 am and go to bed at 7:30pm.

Is the young lady's name actually Tatiana Shvacus? Do you know what's happened to her since?

Yes, I do believe that's her correct name, but I don't know what happened to her. She's not one of the people I kept in touch with after school.

This interview was conducted via email. It's been lightly edited and re-arranged.

That's awesome that you tracked him down! Hopefully when you find her, she won't be as boring as he is ;o

Have you tried looking for her by her porn name?

I was curious so I searched her name on facebook....her profile is public you guys could email her!

Facebook was the second search we did (right after Google), but we got zero results. And we're still getting zero results today. Maybe we have to be part of the UAlbany network.

She's in the "I Survived Fountain Day '04" Group as well.

AOA, once again, you guys are awesome. Great work, hope you get the second half of the interview.
