Elephants in Albany
Melissa snapped this pic of the circus elephants being unloaded late last night at the Port of Albany. As she emailed: "It was pretty neat!"
The elephants only had a short trip here -- they were coming from Rochester.
(Thanks, Melissa!)

Thanks AOA for covering something so "neat" - I think it's especially neat how circus animals get live in hell for our "entertainment".

I think its totally neat to see an elephant.
Not a huge fan of the circus, wouldn't buy a ticket. Fighting animal cruelty is a wonderful cause. Still gonna look at the picture. Nothin' wrong with that.

These animals are treated so horrendously, and are so intelligent...
I'm sad and disgusted.

I agree with the sentiments above--there is nothing sadder than a circus elephant. Unless it's a circus lion or tiger. It doesn't matter how well the circus claims to treat the animals. At least at modern zoos, there is an attempt to create quasi-natural habitats for these animals. Not to rain on anybody's circus parade, but hopefully someday this form of entertainment will be a relic of the past, like bear baiting.
