AOA Midtown party update

midtown tea and tapFirst, thanks to everyone who's said "Yep, I'll be there" for this Thursday's party at the Midtown Tap and Tea Room -- the 75 spots filled up over the weekend. We're excited to meet a bunch of people in person for the first time. If you're signed up and won't be able to make it, please update your status (or send us an email) so other people can take your spot.

Second, the food. The list of hors d'oeuvres is after the jump. They look like some tasty snacks.

Philippine egg roll

chalupa with chorizo sausage in crispy tortilla shells

meatballs in basil cream sauce

canapes w shrimp and peas

deviled eggs

salsa, hummus, pita chips

I may have to bring a baggie of my cucumber chips. This all looks so yummy!!!!

:)

Yum.

@Kari: good idea. Who hasn't a food blog nowadays? I'm sure a potluck would work for "AOA 3: Return of the Party". I increased the number of edible dishes I know by 100% this year (i.e. 2).

Oh, if only I could be there keeping you all from yummy foodstuffs!

@S - oh lord, you and that guacamole. LIMES! ;)

-S: you mean, you added two new types of cupcakes to your repertoire?

Congrats on packing the house. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the miscreants.

If everyone there has a food blog, maybe we should consider some kind of food blog showdown.

To the death?
No. To the pain.

-to the pain- oohhhh how i love the princess bride. :)

i've been to the midtown tap & tea room, the food was pretty good as i remember. looking forward to it, thanks AOA for putting this together!

I've had those chalupas and they are lovely!

I'm having a hard time deciding what to wear tomorrow. Should I go with my "Live Free or Die" Monster Truck T-shirt I got at Walmart, or opt for something more sophisticated like my pink leopard print zubaz & matching cowgirl boots? If I can't decide soon I might just have wear all of the above. I want to create a good first impression after all. Nobody wants to be caught looking like a fool.

So much for getting my good eating habits back on track after last week. Deviled Eggs are my kryptonite.

Yay! Thanks for the update! I was able to get a spot. Looking forward to it!

Have fun! I wish I could be there! Next time, definitely.

Curse you AOA and your everfull platter of deviled eggs!
I have such heartburn this morning.

(That's it... "deviled eggs"... "heartburn"... they'll believe that.)

I hear the party was a blast. Glad everyone had a good time.

Pantaloons, I promise I'll be there to torment you in person next time. Maybe. :)

Komradebob, I spent half the night trying to figure out how it was possible for the bartender to hand me this. Conclusion: you're a magician. Or a witch. Either way, it probably involves the use of rabbits. And that's cool. Because I have nothing against rabbits.

Or is it spelled "which"? Crap.

Pantaloons, that chick you hired to portray you last night was great! She never broke character once, not even after she caught us rifling through her purse for ID when she came back from the bathroom.

Sandor, I hired her because she's a good actress & has an AOA tattoo across her back. Did she show it to you? I thought the cobra coming out of the O added a touch of simple elegance not seen in this country since the Kennedy years. Oh, and she told me your real name is in fact Sandor. Turns out you're not the only one rifling through wallets.

I feel left out because nobody rifled through any of my personal belongings.

I can't believe I knew you all along, Pantaloons.

thanks for putting this together, mary and greg. :)

at the party the other night, i was referred to as "the po po hater," "the one with the nice apartment," "the one with the shoes," and my hair drew comparisons to one of my favorites. met some nice people and had some interesting conversations. next time, i'm bringing a stack of "hello, my name is" labels and a sharpie.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
