David Sedaris at Crossgates tonight

david_sedaris.jpgAuthor David Sedaris will be at the Crossgates Borders tonight for a book signing. His new book, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, came out this week.

The event starts at 7 pm. He always seems like a popular draw in this area, so you might want to show up early.

I'm hoping you can buy the book there. All I have is a paperback of one of his older ones and I'd feel stupid bringing that. Can you tell I've never been to a book signing before?

Saw him at Palace last year and he was hilarious!

Yeah Ellsass the whole point of a book signing is to sell his newest book! ;-)

No one told me he was going to do a reading and talk! I took my time and moseyed up around 7:45 to find him finishing up before resuming the signing. The manager said the line was twice as long before he stopped to talk; there were ~80 people there with me, so I'm guessing ~150 before -- not a bad turnout. I waited a while and had nothing to say but he managed to fill the awkward silence and now I've got my book. Yay.

I was there too and I brough an older hard cover copy of Holidays on Ice for him to sign. I think my friend and I creeped him out because when we asked him out for a drink he mumbled something about not doing anything fun and then he turned around to ask for food. I should've known better. I'm not good with celebrities who aren't AOA commenters.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
