Project Larkway

larkway winners 2.JPG

Winning designer Joleen Button and Lark Street's top model Sarah von Ouhl, wearing a Button designed bikini.

So this weekend at Art on Lark, AOA's too-fabulous Jess Pasko got her best Tim Gunn on and joined Kristi G, fashion designers Katie Pray and Gina Ulrich and Upstate Magazine's Christa Dijstelbergen to judge Project Larkway (think Project Runway for local designers and models).

This year's designers were Amy Orr , Jill Castle and Joleen Button. Button won.

Here's a little of the inside scoop from the judges on how it went down and more pictures from the runway.

Jill's pieces were more retro, Amy went with a "trash" inspired theme. Not trash as in sleazy-- her designs were made from actual trash.

The judges told us that all three collections were cool and creative in their own way. Some even found pieces they'd want to wear in each. But in the end they thought Joleen's collection was a bit more original than the others.

Here's a look:

Thanks for the link. Nice show, though I wish the judges had shared their opinion with the crowd. Trying to out-comment B on this specific photo (wrt the guy on the right): the reason why I put my camera here is because of *gravity* of course. You know.

And also to compensate.

I sincerely beg to differ, but thanks.

Okay, thanks -S, I'm just going to go ahead and caption jess with "INVIZIBL CHEEZBURGR" in that shot then.

local-loveliness KiMelodic is super secret appearance

Thanks for blowing up my spot MW! Exactly why I like to keep things a secret ; )

Congratulations again, Joleen! It was a beautiful collection!

Having a child is indeed a second shot or at least a reminder of the magic of childhood. I thought of this yesterday and my 4 year old and myself rode figure 8's and generally raced all around the now empty parking lots of Sage, Albany College of Pharmacy and OPWDD on our BMX bikes. So many childhood 'far away' journeys are actually so close.
