KG cartoon is sexist?
The New York State chapter of NOW says a New York Daily News editorial cartoon about Kirsten Gillibrand's, uh, inability to be pithy is sexist. (KG was cut off after she went over time while introducing Sonia Sotomayor this week.)

Many politicians are bloviators. There were plenty of gags about Bill Clinton being low-winded. If Gillibrand went over her time limit, then she went over her time limit. It has nothing to do with "speaking Truth to Power" and other feminist cliches. (And I say this as a card carrying women's libber.) The National Organizaton for Women-NYS should focus on issues that matter.

Yes, and if Senator Gillibrand were a minority someone would be claiming that the cartoon is racist.

That press release does more for the stereotype that women are fragile flowers with delicate sensibilities than the comic did for the chatty-cathy stereotype.
(side note: that is a ridiculously phallic sock though)

Sometimes a sock is just a sock, Draper.
