Stuff to do this weekend

We're thinking breakfast at the track this weekend...

Yeah, we're still on vacation, but the weekend is here and there's a lot of great stuff to do that we wanted to be sure to pass along.

So here are a few things we thought might be worth checking out. We're still in vacation mode, which means we may have missed a few things -- so feel free to add to the list. Have a great weekend. We'll be back at it on Monday.

Garage Rock
APL is hosting another garage band concert tonight. The Tern Rounders headline tonight's show concert in the garage at the Washington Avenue branch ( around back on Elk Street.) . The Tern Rounders headline tongihts show. The show goes from 6-8. And hey, it's free.

Art Night
If the thunderstorms subside you might want to wander out to Art Night in Schenectady tonight. Shops and galleries are open late with music and other fun stuff. Here's the rundown and map.

Might be a good weekend for a movie
Who knows, they've been wrong before, but we may be looking at a (surprise) wet weekend. You may want to wait out the rain at a movie. The new Quentin Tarrentino flick, "Inglorious Basterds," just opened at The Spectrum. Foodies, Julie and Julia is there too. Meryl Streep is predictably awesome.

Baseball
If it doesn't rain -- or if you're a die hard-- you can catch a Tri-City Valley Cats game tonight at 7, Saturday at 5:30 or Sunday at 5 at "The Joe."

See a show
Capital Rep is showing the mystery/ comedy Shear Madness for a few more weeks. This weekend you can catch it tonight at 8, Sat at 3 PM and 7:30 and Sun at 2:30 $36-46.

Jonathan Larson (the guy who wrote Rent) wrote another great show before his untimely death. A local group is performing Tick, tick . . . BOOM! this weekend at Westgate Plaza on N. Russell Road in Albany. Tonight at Saturday at 8 and Sunday at 2. $15.

Arts Festival
Music, dance, performances and arts and crafts on the lawn of The National Museum of Dance Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 5.

Drinks at The Adelphi
If you've been to the bar and courtyard at Saratoga's Adelphi Hotel, you know why we're suggesting it. If you haven't, go. No, it's not cheap, but the music, the furniture, the architecture will take you on a time trip back to the late 19th Century. And the desserts and daiquiri's will take you on another kind of trip.

Improvise
Improv comedy troupe "The Mop and Bucket Company" are making things up at Caffe Lena in Saratoga tonight at 8. $17

Picnic with the orchestra
The Philadelphia Orchestra closes out it's 2009 summer season at SPAC this weekend. Tonight they're performing a Tchaikovsky tribute that ends with the 1812 Overture and fireworks. Saturday's lineup includes Ravel's Bolero.

Squeeze the good stuff out of summer
Take some advice from these folks on how to get the best out of the rest of summer in the Capital Region

Have some ice cream
Only a few more weeks to get ice cream at your favorite seasonal joints -- so get it where you can. Or follow the AOA ice cream tour.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
