The 8 Bit Break Down
Here's something that could be fun Friday night. Casperland, the new electronic music studio/workshop in Troy, is presenting "The 8-Bit Break Down" -- a performance of "chiptunes."
The folks at Casperland are describing it as "an evening of 8-bit dance beats and glitched nintendo visuals." Here's a little more:
Emar of Utica NY and Mr. Eggz of Boston, MA will be performing using 8-bit video game consoles and hand built/modified electronics.
Attendees are invited to bring their favorite nintendo games to play on the modified nintendo console.
Casperland's gallery opens at 5 pm. The performance starts at 7.
Friday is also Troy Night Out.
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

Chiptune rules.
Check this song out, Spontaneous Devotion by Random. Be sure to listen to the middle part where it really gets good.
Bit Shifter is another biggie in the chiptune world.
And if you get a chance, check out the documentary Reformat the Planet.

8bitpeoples is a good reference for more of this style of music, and you can find some links to (free, legal) music downloads. Warning: delving into this will make you want to bust out Megaman 2.
