Local post offices escape the chopping block

usps logo on mailbox Well, at least a few of them. Three of the local post offices slated for possible "consolidation" by the Postal Service are no longer on the list. The USPS says it still hasn't made any final decisions -- and it won't until after October 2.

Here are the three locations no longer on the chopping block...

Academy - 563 NEW SCOTLAND AVE ALBANY, NY 12208
Fort Orange - 450 CENTRAL AVE ALBANY, NY 12206
Rotterdam Square - 93 W CAMPBELL RD SCHENECTADY, NY 12306

The Academy location significant because the USPS had been considering pretty much every post office on the south side of Albany for consolidation.

Here are the three that could still be closed:

Delaware Ave - 332 DELAWARE AVE STE 1 ALBANY, NY 12209
Patroon - 1226 BROADWAY MENANDS, NY 12204
Scotia - 224 MOHAWK AVE SCHENECTADY, NY 12302
