Local post offices escape the chopping block
Well, at least a few of them. Three of the local post offices slated for possible "consolidation" by the Postal Service are no longer on the list. The USPS says it still hasn't made any final decisions -- and it won't until after October 2.
Here are the three locations no longer on the chopping block...
- Academy - 563 NEW SCOTLAND AVE ALBANY, NY 12208
- Fort Orange - 450 CENTRAL AVE ALBANY, NY 12206
- Rotterdam Square - 93 W CAMPBELL RD SCHENECTADY, NY 12306
The Academy location significant because the USPS had been considering pretty much every post office on the south side of Albany for consolidation.
Here are the three that could still be closed:
- Delaware Ave - 332 DELAWARE AVE STE 1 ALBANY, NY 12209
- Patroon - 1226 BROADWAY MENANDS, NY 12204
- Scotia - 224 MOHAWK AVE SCHENECTADY, NY 12302

Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
