Great comments from this week

quote bubbleWe get hundreds of comments here at AOA each week. Here are a few that made us think or laugh this week.

Thanks to everyone who posted a comment!

About Boredoms at EMPAC

"Boredoms are one of the most amazing/important (not really even "interesting/different" anymore, btw) rock bands of the past 20 years - Deerhunter are some fresh kids from down south smoking weed and making amazing songs. What more does the Cap Region need? AOA! and fifteen bucks is crazy for a group this well known. Your blog rules but get with the program!"

About Rachel Alexandra's victory at Saratoga

"I don't often play the Eeyore in these discussions, but while chattering about Rachel Alexandra, keep in mind that in the final race of this year's meet, ToDo K "broke down" on the stretch. "Broke Down" is a euphuism for:

"Snapped its right foreleg above the hoof, which dangled horrifically till the handlers could euthanize the 3 year old behind a hastily erected screen on the turf track."

It was quick and as painless as possible and the track staff were as discreet as could be under the circumstances.

It's also the other side of the coin we spend every summer in Saratoga to get logo'd give-a-ways and see Marylou Whitney's fancy new hat.

Jockey Ramon Dominguez was unhurt."

About the gate at Falls View Park in Cohoes

"What if you show up for a quick peak at 25 minutes to close? Is there more than that the one 30 minute warning, or should I bring Snackables and a blanket, just in case?

I ask because Murphy's Law says this will be me."

About Eliot Spitzer teaching a college course

"I don't want to know what it takes to get an A in his class!"

About the visit by Dutch royalty

"He's embarrassed about the city's landscape so to make up for it Rockafeller tears it all up. Somehow the Dutch Royalty still love it?! It's not very bike or pedestrian freindly and a large section of the city was wiped out. They smiled and played nice. Afterall you can't go to a friend's house after a major remodel and go "WHAT THE F$%& DID YOU DO THIS THIS PLACE?! What are you, BLIND?" That last part would not go over well with the current Gov."

About James Tuffey's retirement job

"For serious? The city police chief, who no doubt helped a construction company secure plenty of city and state funds during many years of his service, resigns under scandal and is now hired by said construction company to be paid by those same city and state funds. Hey, that sounds totally legit, guys."

About a Will Ferrell movie shooting in Albany

"You stay classy, Albany. And have a great night. But mostly stay classy."

Oh come on, komradebob's comment on the same Will Ferrell post was way better. Insensitive and in extremely poor taste sure, but still much wittier.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
