Details on President Obama's visit to the HVCC are coming in very slowly. The visit is expected to be a quick one. Dr. Jill Biden, is expected to accompany President Obama on the trip. Hudson Valley was selected for its TEC-SMART facility in Malta near Global Foundries that will train students in "green" technologies. The Capital Region's August unemployment may be the highest it's been for that month in 33 years. The 7.0 percent August unemployment rate is up from 4.9 percent in August of 2008. It's the highest August jobless rate since they started keeping records on this sort of thing in 1990. [TU}

The Salaries of 179 thousand employees of New York State county, city, town and villages are now available online. The Empire Center for New York State Policy has published the salaries for the 2008-2009 fiscal year on SeeThroughNY.net. The highest paid employees in the Capital Region include a suspended Schenectady police officer.[TU, WRGB]

Governor David Paterson has hired longtime democratic operative Richard Fife to be his Campaign Manager. Fife worked on Carl McCall's campaign and was a New York consultant on the Obama campaign [News9, NYT]

Two banks in local supermarkets were robbed yesterday. Police in Saratoga Springs are searching for a guy who robbed a Citizen's Bank in the Spa City on Thursday. The robber threatened a teller made off with an undetermined amount of cash and got away in a blue BMW. Colonie police are looking for a many who robbed the bank in the Price Chopper at Central Ave and RTE 155. Right now they don't think the two robberies are connected. [Saratogian, WNYT, WTEN}

The city of Albany released a new website and map that allows people to track sex offenders who live in the city. Offenderwatch includes photos of registered offenders and allows you to sign up to receive an email alert when a sex offender registers in your area.[CapNews9, AOA, TU]

The head of Albany's police union, who was a vocal critic of former Chief James Tuffy, has been reelected. Christian Mesley has led the city's police union since 2004. [T.U.]

Ten people were arrested in a two week long prostitution sting on Central Avenue in Albany. Complaints from local business owners prompted the sting. [T.U]

Police in Albany county have arrested a man who they believe made nearly a million dollars over two years in an internet scam. 25 year old Jeffery Robert of Knox allegedly sold high performance car engines on the internet and never delivered them. Police say Robert used the money to buy things like a boat, ATVs and a Corvette. [News9,TU]

A Brunswick woman fell 150 into the Postenkill Gorge. Her two dogs kept her warm while she waited 30 hours for help. [TU, CapNews9]
