Flamenco in Troy
The Troy Savings Banks Music Hall has a show coming up next week that could be fun: Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Peña.
From a TSBMH release:
"A Compás" features Paco and two other guitarists, a percussionist, vocalist and three dancers. Its goal is to transmit to the audience the compelling nature of a range of flamenco rhythms, from the almost tribal, trance-inducing quality of the "alboreá"" to the razor-sharp complexity of the "bulerÃa."
Here are a few video clips of "A Compás" from two years ago.
Peña is apparently one of the world's foremost Flamenco guitarists. The Guardian described one of his recent performances in London as "a larky fiesta."
The performance is October 1 at 8 pm. Tickets start at $20.

Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

This post reminded me of another kind of flamenco in Troy that I love: Huevos Flamencos.
I can't wait for Carmen's Cafe to reopen!

Could we please change the name of the annual street fair at the edge of Center Square to "Larky Fiesta"? Pretty please?

@CJ: Only if you promise to say it with a British accent.
