A portrait of Pataki

pataki portraitThe official gubernatorial portrait of George Pataki was unveiled yesterday (here's a good picture).

NYT describes the portrait this way (emphasis added):

As with most portraits of past governors, Mr. Pataki's is regal. Wearing a dark gray suit and a thoughtful expression, he is resting his right hand on a banister. His left arm is cocked smartly, his hand on his hip. As opposed to a shelf of thick law books or a stately room in the Executive Mansion, the backdrop is the rolling hills of the Hudson River Valley.

You know, we keep looking at the portrait and all we can think is that Governor Pataki is scratching himself.

By the way: there's still no Mario Cuomo portrait -- despite Jack McEneny's threats.

Hey, What about Elliot Spitzer, is he planning on sitting for one? How about some suggesstions as to the pose? and the setting?

There shouldn't be a Spitzer portrait, he was in the chair just over a year before the scandal. William Sulzer was in eight months before he was impeached (1913) and there's no portrait of him either.

Mmmm... that's a good looking man. Yesiree, that George Pataki is a hottie.

The biggest tool has the most "magnificent" portrait. Generations hence shall look at this and say, "what a buffoon." And they'll be right. and yes, he is scratching himself.

"Biggest buffoon"? Since he's left we've had a John and a guy who wants to tax soda and gym memberships.

No portrait for Spitzer, but his name is going to be on the Central Ave. sign.
