Goal! But where?

The US Men's National Soccer Team is playing what could be its decisive World Cup qualifier this Saturday at Honduras. You won't be able to watch it at home. And you won't be able to watch in most sports bars. You will be able to watch it at Wolff's -- one of only three places in New York State that will be showing the English-language broadcast. Update: There's a $5 cover charge -- see comments.

You should also mention that Wolff's will be charging a $5 cover after 9pm (game is at 10pm). Too bad it's Columbus Day weekend -- if I weren't out of town I'd be there.

This Copa TV company is pretty dumb. I'm sure they could've gotten more money selling the rights to ESPN or FSC (Wolff's' owner said it cost about $1500 for them).

I know I will get pilloried for this, but please only come if you genuinely care about the USMNT. The crowd will be vocal, rowdy, and thoroughly uninterested in people that are there for any other reason than to support our great USMNT!

Also note: there is a cover charge to keep out disinterested parties (and because it's required by the license holder).

Thanks to Matt and Mark for putting this together!

Erik with a k, I'll gladly lock you in. Because the only reason I go to bars, especially ones filled with smug bartenders, is to worry what the dudes watching TV will think about me. I mean really, when did soccer become so elitist? You're telling me I can't come there Saturday to watch Lokomotiv Moscow? Matt doesn't need my cash? I'm a fan of soccer, especially the "USMNT" but come on guys, let's time for a reality check.

Their not showing Italy v. Ireland?! Disgraceful....

Seriously Erik? Do you think Matt and Mark only want people who are into soccer to come to Wolff's on Saturday night? Should I not be able to go to a place I like to eat late on a Saturday night because there are soccer fans there? Should non or casual football fans not be able to go to The Sports Grill on Sundays because the crowd will be "thoroughly uninterested" in their presence?

That was the most elitist comment I've read here in a long time. It's attitudes like that that make casual fans like me who enjoy the game not want to be around fanatics like you. We all have the right to enjoy Wolff's and the soccer game...not just you.

There's nothing casual about a must win World Cup Qualifier.

@himynameispaul I think they are playing the replay on Sunday at 3:30, but I'm not 100% on that.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
