Steve Martin (and his banjo) coming to Troy
Steve Martin at the Grand Ole Opry
Not a joke: Steve Martin -- yep, that Steve Martin -- will be playing a bluegrass concert with the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on October 20.
Martin has been playing the banjo for a long time -- and apparently it shows. The Crow, a banjo album he recorded, is currently #2 on the Billboard bluegrass chart. And Brooklyn Vegan reports that a show Martin played in NYC earlier this year demonstrated "his picking skills in a decisive fashion."
Tickets for the show start at $65. The show begins at 8pm on the 20th (that's a Tuesday).

The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. $65 is for the back..the way way back.. and while the TSBMH is awesome, I cannot pay that much.

Ditto, Miles. I'd be right on top of that if it were even $20, but not for $65.
By the way, not sure if anyone read Martin's memoir BORN STANDING UP or not, but it's fantastic.

I read Born Standing Up and thought it was fantastic. I am a HUGE Steve Martin fan but there is no way I can afford the tickets. Total bummer.
