Clearing the dead wood
Troy announced today that it's planning to knock down 22 "vacant and unsalvageable" city-owned buildings that "represent a danger to the public." Mayor Harry Tutunjian tweeted today that city couldn't find buyers for the properties. (He's also apparently taking code-enforcement requests via Twitter [OK, it was one request].)

Homes should not be vacant for more than two years. If the present owner cannot afford to fix/rehab the home, it should be put up for sale at the previous price at most. Stagnation is was causes cities and neighborhoods to fall apart. I've been living next to a vacant 3 story home for three years. (its been vacant for 10) The owner has neglected it, never repaired or rented out. Not good.

We need to watch out....
Remember the last time Tutunjian had a wrecking ball in his hands.
