Stuck in the gate?

Saratoga without horse racing does not break my heart at all. When I lived there the "season" was my least favorite time of year. Anyone who actually LIVES in a resort community will know why.
Saratoga Springs is a charming, attractive, historically interesting community 12 months a year. While the track certainly boosts the economy, the city has many other allurements. I would hate that anyone thinks Saratoga would not be Saratoga without the track.

We frequently hear NCPR stories about regional topics on NPR, but rarely stories from WAMC. Maybe the AOA editors can help me understand this better ;)
From an outsider's perspective, supplying content to a show like ATC seems like a prestigious thing. What factors make contributing to NPR a negative?
