Nice ride
From a tweet today by Keeler, the local auto dealership, comes word that a car with a $238,000 price tag was delivered today. And, yep, there's a pic.

Ahh, the new-car smell of unbridled excess... For that much oney one could buy a nice home, but I give that is obvious.

That is one sweet ride. If you got the money, you might as well get the car.

you can live in your car but you can't drive your house - why not splurge?

This is a great example of German engineering at it's best. I would love to do a photo shoot with that car! Keeler, if you're reading, get in touch!

hmm..I'm gonna take a wild guess and posit that the license plate of the d-bag customer who bought this car has "nano" on it somewhere....

Agree with Rebecca. Also the "Tech Valley" plate.
That's the car for people that don't know much about cars but have too much money and no taste. GL buyer!

Tidbits like these are why I love AOA.

Enh.
Most people's "needs" can be fulfilled by a $18,000 car. Less, if you buy used.
Yet we don't blink when they buy a $40,000 car or SUV because they "need" it. A little over ten of those purchases equals the same wasteful, conspicuous consumption as one purchase of this car.
I'm sure the average $40k car, truck, or SUV outsells the CLS AMG more than ten to one, considering they're only making 3000 of them per year.

I was friends with someone in Ithaca who had a trust fund and bought a $100,000 race car. He was a nice guy and I'm positive it was a super-fun toy, but I lost some respect for him when he made that purchase. I couldn't stop thinking of how much good he could have done with $100,000 -- for example, here:
