My Exit: Brett Groff

Brett Groff

Every Monday night our friends at WEXT do this thing called My Exit -- local listeners get to come into the station and program an hour of music. So we thought it'd be fun to find out a little bit about these people and why they picked the songs on their play list.

Here's tonight's person:

Who?
Brett Groff from Saratoga Springs.

How would you descirbe your musical taste?
I enjoy all kinds of music except for Country.  My favorite type of music is New Wave, with most of it coming out of the 80's.  I absolutely love catchy pop melodies and aspire to write one myself.

Five songs from Brett's My Exit Show:

"Bunker Soldiers" by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) - This is a great song from the 80's with a catchy melody that lyrically conveys something important.  OMD has a knack for getting you to both dance and think at the same time.

"Night Of The Swallow" by Kate Bush - For me being an aspiring piano player, Kate Bush is my #1 inspiration and this song encapsulates both her ability to tell a story through song and give it an emotional punch.  I find myself getting totally sucked in with it.

"N.A. Kicker" by Superdrag - This is a rockin song with a great guitar riff.  Superdrag is an overlooked one-hit wonder band from the 90's.  This song shows their great propensity to write catchy melodies, which is something I love.

"Side With The Seeds" by Wilco - The Nels Cline solos in this song...nuff said!

"You Can Come To Me" by The Helio Sequence - Electronic music blended with powerful emotion makes this song and band one of a kind.

You can hear Brett's My Exit show tonight at 8 on 97.7 or at exit977.org.

Here's how to schedule your own My Exit show on WEXT.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
