Fire at UG

The was a fire today at the Saratoga Uncommon Grounds, apparently related to the roasting of coffee beans. UG says it was a "little chimney fire" and the location is "closed while we clean up and assess what happened." It reports that no one was hurt. Update: It opened a few hours later. The fire department says built-up residue in the roaster chimney caught fire. [Saratoga Seen] [@uncommongrounds] [@uncommongrounds] [Saratogian] [Daily Gazette]

I hope Sebastian's photos are OK. Glad everyone made it out safely. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the UG crew and business.

Michael, my first thought (after the safety of employees and patrons, of course), was for those photso, knowing how much time and energy he put into them.

Of course, this was at the Saratoga UG, so I breathed a sigh of relief. Or, maybe a souffle, in his honor.

Thanks for your concern, everyone!

It was indeed a very small fire within the roaster.

There was almost no damage, due to the Saratoga Fire and Police Department's swift movement to the store.

We were open as soon as we could be after mopping up a bit and getting things back in order.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
