Garage Band series back at the APL

apl garage bands poster 2010The Garage Band series starts up again at the Albany Public Library this week. The free shows feature local bands playing in the APL main branch's garage off Elk Street. The lineups are after the jump.

Kimelodic wrote about the fun she had at one of last year's shows.

Also: Locals Blue Factory will open the Troy Rockin' on the River series on June 23.

The shows run from 6-8 pm. From the APL release:

June 18: Blue Factory and The Hoborchestra. Blue Factory is an original rock/pop group that hails from Poestenkill. The Hoborchestra is an eclectic, unique side project of The Hobo Banned's Tim Koch.

July 16: Charmboy and Beware! The Other Head of Science. Charmboy is a classic power trio who long for rock's bad old days. Beware! The Other Head of Science is a six-member group that was dubbed "best electro pop band" by Metroland in 2009.

August 20: Grainbelt and Knyghts of Fuzz. Grainbelt infuses country with cowpunk for glorious roots-rock and impassioned vocals by Howard Glassman. Knyghts of Fuzz is a newer band created by members of Rocky Velvet and other Albany-area rockers.

September 17: The Union Boots and Complicated Shirt. The Union Boots has a classic, rocking sound and hails from Albany. Complicated Shirt lives between garage rock and punk, but brings an inspired sound to both genres.
