Capital Region Fairs

The Ferris Wheel: Invented by an RPI grad, and a heck of a lot of fun at a fair.

It's fair season in the Capital Region, and we're looking forward to carnival rides, corn on the cob, cotton candy, prize goats and racing pigs.

The Saratoga County Fair opens on Tuesday, and it's kind of the unofficial start of the season.

Saratoga County Fair

When:
July 20 - 25. 9am to midnight daily.

Where:
The Saratoga County Fairgrounds -Ballston Spa

How much:
$8 Tuesday through Thursday
$10 Friday through Sunday.
Free for anyone (of any age) 50 inches (4'2") or shorter.
You can get a $25 for one person for the whole week.

Schoharie County Sunshine Fair
When:
July 30 - August 7. 9AM-4PM

Where:
Cobleskill

How much:
$12 for adults, $10 for seniors and free for children 12 and under.
3-day passes are available at $25 for one adult.

Altamont Fair
August 17 - 22. 11AM - 10PM

Where:
Altamont Fairgrounds

How Much:
$15. Save $1 when you buy your ticket online before midnight on August 15th.
Under 13- Free

Washington County Fair
When:
August 23 - 29, 5pm-10pm Monday, 9am-10pm Tuesday through Sunday.
The midway is open from 5-11

Where:
Washington County Fairgrounds, Greenwhich

How much:
Adults $10. children under 14 are free.
7-day pass $30.

Fonda Fair
When:
August 31 through September 6

Where:
Montgomery County Fairgrounds Route 30A in Fonda

How much:
$10.00 Adults, 6-11 Years - $2.00, Children Under 6 - FREE
Parking - $2.00
Season Passes $35.00

Columbia County Fair
When:
September 1 - 6
3-11pm on Wednesday and 10am-11pm Thursday through Monday.

Where:
Chatham

How much:
Adults $10, Sundays $12. $8 every day if purchased before September 1st.
Under 12 - free.

Schaghticoke Fair
When:
September 1 - 6
12pm-10pm, Thursday through Monday.

Where:
Schaghticoke Fairgrounds

How much:
Adults $10, Opening Day is only $5, September 2 $8
Children under 13 - free.
Advance tickets are available at Price Chopper with an Advantage Card

It's a little farther away, but my favorite is the Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck. August 24-29th, Tuesday to Sunday. Adults $15 (or $12 in advance).
