"I Love New York" by CAPow!

capow I Love New York

When we look at this, we get the urge to pronounce the county names they way they're depicted.

We really like this New York State print by local artist CAPow!. We came across it in this interview she did with Jess Lyons.

The "I Love New York" print is available in CAPow!'s Etsy store -- an 8x10 is $25. She's also selling 16x20s for $50.

She also has prints in the same style for: Albany, Troy, Manhattan and Massachusetts.

Yay Capow! Her other stuff is awesome too. I'm still using the cutest little wallet I bought from her two years ago. She's pretty rad in general, actually.

Put the Albany graphic on a t-shirt and I'll buy one. I bet a lot of others would too...

I love the concept of this. But... "Otsego" misspelled. Fix that in v2.0?

@ Tenner - woops! The map I was referencing had it spelled wrong! A lesson learned, always verify your sources :)

Thank you AOA!

If you dig this sort of thing but lack artistic talent, take a look at Wordle. It'll evaluate a block of text that you provide, or all of the text at a URL, and draw a graphical "word cloud" of the terms. Lots of options, weights the text by frequency, etc.

Here's some random example output for alloveralbany.com, my own Delicious tags, and a simple list of NY counties.

Not the same thing as an original work of art, but kinda cool ... and revealing.

CAPow is my favorite artist in the Capital Region! Not only is she uber talented and creative, but she's a sweetheart! Go to her Etsy shop and buy her stuff! You won't be disappointed!

Wow! That is such a great idea. It looks awesome!

I want a giant Troy one!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
