My Exit: John Gleeson

John Gleeson.jpgEvery Monday night our friends at WEXT do this thing called My Exit -- local listeners get to come into the station and program an hour of music. So we thought it'd be fun to find out a little bit about these people and why they picked the songs on their play list.

Here's tonight's person:

Who?

John Gleeson, Jr. I'm originally from Stillwater and I currently live in Clifton Park with my wife Kristin and one year old daughter, Kayden. I'm a high school special education teacher for Hamilton Fulton Montgomery BOCES. I enjoy spending time with my family, hearing live music, watching movies, bowling and baseball cards.

How would you describe your musical taste?

I will listen to any music once, but my taste leans towards classic rock and college type rock.

5 songs from John's show
This is my second My Exit show. I went with a theme,"the best concerts I have been to." I have seen and heard many in my lifetime. I also had an opportunity to work backstage at SPAC and experienced many shows from the other side of the stage.

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Most definitely a goose bump inducing song if ever there was one. When you hear it in concert it is like a rumble through whatever venue you
are at. You know when the Boss breaks into this one you are in for a heck of a ride.

Hindu Love Gods- Raspberry Beret
The Hindu Love Gods were Warren Zevon and members of R.E.M. I like both bands so this was the best of two groups for me. I have long been a fan of cover songs and this band nails it on Prince's classic.

Cinnamon Girl-Neil Young
Quite possibly one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time. Hearing it on the record is great, being able to see Neil rock back and forth while playing it, "priceless".

Our Prayer/Gee- Brian Wilson
The harmonies on this rather short song are very reminiscent of that other Wilson group. The band he tours with is so tight you can bounce a quarter of off them.

40-U2
The energy, the magic, the brilliance of using Psalm 40 in a rock song is why I chose this one. They close their concerts with it and I closed MyExit show with this.

You can hear John's My Exit show tonight at 8 on 97.7 or at exit977.org.
